Escape Taipei for a day and see some of Taiwan’s rugged natural beauty. The northeastern coast of the island has no shortage of scenic wonders such as Nanya, noted for fabulous rock formations and sea-eroded coral shore. Bitou Cape overlooks beautiful cliffs, marine fossils, and mushroom and honeycomb shaped rocks. At Yin Yang Sea you’ll see the curious bay where yellow water meets with the blue ocean at Yin Yang Sea. One of the sources of this yellow water is the Golden Waterfall, where regular rainfall combined with heavy metal minerals in the earth cause these golden waters to cascade in spectacular fashion.

In addition to being blessed with natural beauty, this region of Taiwan was also once home to gold. At the Gold Museum you’ll have the opportunity to gain insight into the history of the gold rush, the mining techniques and the tools used. Learn about the properties of gold and see the world record 220 kg 999.9 pure gold ingot.

The final stop before drop off back in Taipei is the traditional village of Jiufen, whose buildings and old streets burst with character and culture. Wander amongst the stalls throughout Jiufen selling delicious local delicacies to taste and interesting knick knacks to browse.
